WP90X: Family, Government and Charity – Your Allocation Decision

Details

Estate planning decisions can be difficult to wrestle for affluent and ultra-affluent family groups. How much is too much to leave to children? How do we navigate through the issues of what’s equal and what is fair (active vs. inactive children)? How can we maximize GST-exempt assets we pass on? Is it possible to disinherit the government? How do we optimize control and flexibility while keeping things relatively simple?

We will explore estate and philanthropic planning techniques tailored to meet specific family goals, supported by a real-world case study. The session will also highlight the strategic role of life insurance in funding GST-exempt and non-exempt allocations, with insights into tax, cash flow and implementation strategies.

Session Overview

This 90-minute presentation, led by Ryan Barradas and Michael Kenneth, will delve into zero estate tax plans and the flexibility of plan designs tailored for affluent and ultra-affluent families with complex, yet common fact patterns. The presentation will cover estate and philanthropic planning techniques, focusing on how to design and implement solutions that align with each family’s unique objectives. A case study will exhibit these strategies in action and illustrate how baseline and scenario modeling can help families efficiently navigate these seemingly difficult decisions.
